Q: Do you carry DSL or Cable Internet?

A: Yes, mc.net provides Wireless Broadband and DSL. However, we do not carry cable access. For more information regarding our Wireless or DSL service click here.

Q: What other services are included with mc.net wireless, DSL or dialup?
A: Wireless, DSL and Dialup come with:
- 6 e-mail accounts
- 20MB of personal web space
- Newsgroup Access
- Unix Shell Account
- Free Spam/Virus Filtering
- Wireless & DSL comes with a free dialup account and one static IP address.

Q: When & How can I reach technical support?

A: Technical support is available 24 x 7 x 365. You can reach technical support at 847-594-5111 or by e-mailing support@mc.net.

Q: What operating systems do you support?
A: mc.net will support Windows 98 SE and above. We can also support MAC OSX (Tiger).

Q: My PC is malfunctioning, can I bring it in for service?
A: Yes, mc.net can fix your PC for $50 for first three hours. $25 per hour after the initial three hour visit.

Q: I'm currently paying $19.95 a month for dialup, do you have any discounted services?
A: Yes, discounts are available to semi-annual and annual subscribers. The monthly breakdown for annual subscribers is $14.95/mo. Some educators, realtors and nonprofit organizations may be eligible for further discounts. You can also signup for our "no frills" unlimited dialup available at $9.95/mo. Dialup

Q: What number do I need to dial to access mc.net?
A: There are numerous numbers available to you depending on where you are dialing from. For your access number click here.

Q: I experience frequent disconnects, what could be the issue?
A: There can be many reasons why you are getting disconnected. These include:
- Bad or old modem drivers. See your modem manufacturer for details.
- Poor phone lines. Please call your phone provider to conduct a line test. Remove any phone splitters and fax machines from the line.
- Virus or Spyware infection. Run up to date antivirus and spyware programs. Bring your computer into mc.net for a cleanup.

Q: I just purchased service, but I can't connect to the Internet, what's wrong?
A: Please allow two hours after activation before attempting to connect to the Internet. If you continue to have problems contact technical support.


E-mail

Q: How many e-mail accounts are available to me?
A: Wireless and Dialup accounts come with one "@mc.net" account and up to five "@joltmail.com" accounts.

Q: I want to access my e-mail on another computer, how can I do this?
A: You can access your e-mail by visiting https://webmail.mc.net. This interface acts as a supplement to your e-mail program. It currently does not support address books, sent items or calendars. Once an e-mail is deleted from the interface it has been completely removed from the server.

Q: I am receiving error 553, This domain isn't in my list of RCPTHOSTS, what is happening?
A: Most likely your ISP is requiring you to use their outgoing mail server to send mail. For a list of third party servers click here. If mc.net is your connection provider and you are using Outlook or Outlook Express please check the box that states: "My Outgoing Server requires authentication". If you require assistance please contact technical support.

Q: I am unable to send e-mail all of a sudden, but I can surf, what's happening?

A: Most likely your software firewall, such as Norton Internet Security, McAffee Firewall or Windows Firewall has been updated and is blocking e-mail. We recommend you temporarily disable your firewall to test if you can send/receive e-mail.

Q: I'm receiving a ton of spam and virus messages, can you block it?

A: Spam/Virus filtering comes included with your mc.net e-mail account. Please report any missed spam to abuse@mc.net.


Personal Web Space

Q: How do I get started with my Personal Web Site?
A: After you have developed your site you must upload the it to our server. Click Here for more information.

Q: Can I use a ".com" name to access my site?
A: No, if you are interesting domain based hosting click here.

Q: My web page doesn't show up and I've uploaded everything to the server, what's wrong?
A: Make sure you have created a folder called "public_html" and your homepage is called index.html.

Q: Can I use ASP or PHP with my personal web site?
A: No, you must purchase domain based hosting for access to these services. Click here for more information.

Q: How much web space is available to me?
A: 20 Mb. You can put a lot of pages and images on this.
