mc.net - When SERVICE Matters



OUTLOOK 2000 E-MAIL CONFIGURATION

This document assumes you are connecting to the Internet via mc.net. Some third party providers require you to use their SMTP server to send e-mail. Click here for a list of third party SMTP servers.

1. Open Outlook 2000
2. Select Tools If you have the option to select "services" then continue to the next number. If you have the option to select "accounts" then click Here
3. Select Add button to display the add service profile box.
4. Select Add button to display the add service profile box.
5. If you are prompted to Set up a new e-mail account then click Here
6. Choose the Internet e-mail option
7. Press ok to add services.

8. Once the service has been added, close the dialogue box.
9. Exit outlook. Note: You may have to reboot windows.
10. Click select tools.
11. Then select services.
12. Select the service that you just created.
13. Click on the properties button to display the general tab of the properties dialog. You will use this tab to enter some basic information.


14. Check the name from the account name text box and change it to mc.net.
15. From the name text box you need to enter the name that you want people to see from the line when they receive one of your messages.
16. Enter your actual e-mail address in the e-mail address text box. Example: username@mc.net
17. Click the apply button.
18. Click on the servers tab.
19. Under incoming mail type in mail.mc.net
20. Under outgoing mail type mail.mc.net
21. Under incoming mail server enter your account name, which is your username.
22. Enter your e-mail password.

24. Click on apply.
25. Click on OK.
26. Shut down outlook.
27. Then restart it.
28. Finally click 'Send/Recv' to test your new E-mail account, and see if you receive any mail.

Outlook 2000: E-mail setup first time.

This is for if the e-mail has been never set up before.
1. Select Internet only.

2. Enter your name, as you would like it to appear on outgoing e-mails in the Display Name box.
3. Click Next
4. Enter your E-mail address in the e-mail address.
5. Click Next.
6. Select POP3.
7. Enter mail.mc.net in the Incoming Mail box.
8. Enter mail.mc.net in the Outgoing Mail box.

9. Click Next.
10. Enter your username in the "Account Name" box.
11. Click Next.
12. Click on I will establish a connection to the internet manually.
13. Click Next
14. Click Finish. Our e-mail server requires authentication both for incoming and out going e-mail. Outlook Express, by default, does not require authentication as a default. You will need to select it.
15. To do this click on Select Tools
16. If you have the option to select "services" then click Here
17. If you have the option to select "accounts" then click Here

Outlook 2000: E-mail setup with accounts option.

If you are prompted to Set up a new e-mail account then click Here
1. Go to tools.
2. Select Accounts.

3. Select Mail
4. Highlight mail.mc.net
5. Click Properties
6. Click on Servers
7. Put a check in My server requires authentication.

8. Click OK, Apply or Close as required on all open boxes.
9. Finally click "Send/Recv" to test your new E-mail account, and see if you receive any mail.
Note:You may have to close outlook and go back into it to get it to work.

Congratulations! You have configured Outlook 2000 for E-mail!
